Will Gorantla Butchaiah leave TDP?
The opposition TDP is facing yet another misfortune. This time it is from Rajamahendravaram, where the party senior leader and sitting MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary had almost closed the doors for leadership, if not revolt.
He had given enough indications of quitting the party and the Assembly seat too. The statement comes from unresolved agony that he had been facing in the party. The agony is due to the intervention of party general secretary and Chandrababu Naidu’s son, Lokesh. It is said that Lokesh had told some of his followers not to take Butchaiah Chowdary seriously.
Interestingly, there are enough rumours in the state that Lokesh is keeping seniors away from the party activities and is snubbing them. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao too had felt this humiliation, which, among other reasons, had reportedly pushed him into distress ending up in hanging himself to death a year ago.
Most of the senior leaders in the TDP are not happy, if not comfortable, with the style of politics of Lokesh. The young heir of Chandrababu Naidu is demanding respect to him from the seniors, who were either seniors in the party or politics. Butchaiah Chowdary, in this way, is senior to Chandrababu Naidu in TDP. In fact, Butchaiah Chowdary was in the opposite camp, when Chandrababu Naidu unseated NTR in 1995.
It was only later, after the death of NTR, this Rajamahendravaram leader had joined Chandrababu Naidu’s bandwagon.
The big question now is will Butchaiah Chowdary leave TDP and quit Assembly seat or follow other MLAs like Karanam Balaram, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Maddali Giri!?
