What did the IT sleuths get from Naidu’s ex-PS?
The Income Tax officials have conducted raids on the residence of former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s former personal secretary (PS) Srinivasa Rao. The raids were also held on former minister Prathipati Pullarao’s on and former minister Nara Lokesh’s close aide.
The raids were held for six days in the last week and they are incomplete. The details or the outcome of the raids is yet to be clearly told by the IT sleuths.
The IT officials are likely to resume the raids in a fortnight as they need time to analyze whatever is seized so far. It is widely stated that the IT officials have seized a couple of dairies from Chandrababu Naidu’s former PS and the dairies have some key information, particularly on the financial deals of the former chief minister.
The former chief minister’s former PS is said to be busy with the wedding of his daughter and it is for this reason the IT officials have let him free. The raids are set to resume once the former PS performs his daughter’s wedding and the officials complete the study and analysis of the evidence that they have recovered during the raids.
While the situation stands at this point, it is widely debated in the Telugu States that the raids would soon result in the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and at least a couple of the TDP leaders. A section of the media, which is close to Chandrababu Naidu is completely silent on these rides and the subsequent rumors.
The TDP had denied these rumors and linking of the raids to the party leadership. Lokesh had tweeted denying the rumors and dismissing any link to the party or his family. He alleged that the ruling YSR Congress had linked these IT raids to the TDP only for political gains and there is no truth.
But those who support the rumors suspect that the IT sleuths have seized several key documents and evidences connected to the financial deals of Chandrababu Naidu and his henchmen during the last five years. The dairies seized from Srinivasa Rao have the details of people who met Chandrababu Naidu when he was the chief minister, besides the money paid or received.
However, it is yet to be established by the IT officials who have conducted the raids in the two Telugu States besides Pune and Mumbai, where these leaders have some financial connections.
