Supreme court Lifts stay on Suspension Of AB Venkateswara Rao
The supreme court of India has given a favorable ruling to the government of Andhra pradesh by supporting its decision of suspending former Intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao. The supreme court on Thursday has lifted the stay order given by the high court of AP on the suspension of the senior IPS officer.
On Thursday the supreme court lifted stay on his suspension by the AP government pending inquiry into the allegations of corruption against the senior police officer. A division bench comprising of Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice Ajay Rastogi passed the interim orders to this effect after hearing a special leave petition filed by AP government challenging the high court order revoking ABV’s suspension.
The Supreme Court has lifted the stay order given by the High court of AP and it said the suspension of the officer will continue till further orders. The bench agreed with the contention of the state government that revocation of his suspension would impact the investigation into the allegations against him. The bench served notices to AB Venkateswara Rao , asking him to submit his explanation within three weeks. It also asked the state government to give a copy of charge sheet to Venkateshwara Rao so that he could file the counter.
Actually the AP government has suspended Venkateshwar Rao on February 8 this year for his alleged irregularities in procurement of security equipment from an Israeli company during the previous Telugu Desam Party regime.
