SC quashes petition filed by LG Polymers
Denies to stay HC orders
In a setback to LG Polymers as the Supreme Court denies give stay orders given by AP high court for seizure of its plant, where the poisonous gas was leaked and as a result 12 are killed.
The high court of AP directed the government to seize the company. Than the polymers approached the supreme court and appealed to squash the high court orders and seeked stay orders. But the SC denied their request and directed the company to submit their argumens with AP high court and National green tribunal.
Arguing on behalf of the company, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi said the high court had given unilateral orders to seize the company. He sought the Supreme Court to give permission for the company authorities to go into the LG Polymers plant at Visakhapatnam in view of the emergency conditions prevailing in the plant. The Supreme Court, however, dismissed Rohatgi’s argument and said all the issues would be dealt by the NGT or the state high court.
