Parts of Vijayawada shut down
With corona positive cases increasing in the city, several residential areas remained closed on Monday.
The Krishna district administration had imposed a complete shut down of Krishna Lanka and Ranigari Thota areas due to two positive cases reported from these areas, located right on the Chennai-Kolkata national highway.
Interestingly, the residents of Krishna Lanka raised objection to the district administration shifting the beggars and orphans to the local municipal corporation school due to corona. They did not allow the officials to rehabilitate these persons fearing corona virus.
In less than 24 hours of their resistance, the area reported two positive cases leading to tension in the residential areas consisting of all working-class people.
The Krishna district administration and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation officials have ordered total bandh of the two residential localities on the day. They did not allow even the vegetable vendors and the grocery stores to be open on the day.
The officials have started spraying bleaching powder on the streets and enforcing total bandh. The sanitation stall of the civic body have been deployed in large numbers in the areas to keep the surroundings clean.
The residents are not allowed in the two localities while the denizens in other parts of the city were allowed to go out for provisions and vegetables on the day.
