Rushikonda beach gets eco-label ‘Blue Flag’
Ofcourse the city Visakhapatnam, which has curvy sea shore and beautiful locations like hills and other tourist spots is one of the wonders in the entire south India. But now it got an another tag like that beach Rushikonda is one of the beautiful beaches in entire India. This tag would be an added advantage for the city, which is going to be emerged as administrative capital of Andhrapradesh. Apart from this Rushi Konda beach, Shivrajpur (Gujarat), Ghoghla (Diu), Kasarkod (Karnataka), Padubidri (Karnataka), Kappad (Kerala) Golden (Odisha) and Radhanagar (Andaman) also got the tag of this Blue flag.
The ‘Blue Flag’ certification is given by the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Rushikonda Beach is the only one beach in the State, which was selected by the Union government, for development to match international standards, under BEAMS (Beach Environment and Aesthetics Management Services) project. The criteria for getting the certification are safety, security, pollution-free, good bathing water quality and environmental education of beach users.
All the eight beaches have been conferred the ‘Blue Flag’ in their outstanding attempt for this reorganization. India has also bagged the third best award for ‘best practices’ on pollution control in the coastal regions. This is out of 50 Blue Flag nations, to which India now belongs. Even the minister for tourism Avanthi Srinivas also stated that With this recognization, the beach would be in international tourism map. After observing safety norms, cleanliness and provide amenities matching international standards.’ He said.
