No money, no liquor in local body elections : YSRCP to adopt new method in local body polls
The YSR Congress government is going to adopt an innovative method in coming local body elections including municipal elections, and mandal, Zilla Parishad polls too. Actually flowing of liquor and distributing currency notes is very common in any elections in AP. Whether it’s a loca body or general election, we cannot imagine the poling with out cash and liquor . But the government of AP is planning to conduct the election without distribution any cash or wine. If any candidate found while distributing cash and wine, he would be disqualified from contesting in elections. The AP cabinet has taken such a strong decision to curb those unhealthy practices.
As per information, the AP cabinet has decided to disqualify a representative of the panchayat, MPTC or ZPTC even after election, if found guilty of being involved in corrupt practices. Such elected representatives would be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of three years, apart from a fine of Rs 10,000 also. The cabinet also decided to reduce the duration between the election notification and the election date from 21 to 15 days to curb electoral malpractices. Similarly, for the duration for election procedure to the municipalities, too, would be reduced from 24 to 15 days. If the decision is implemented effectively, the entire polling scenario would be changed and the public would caste their vote for hard working and honest candidates.
