New academic year starts in AP
The AP government had resumed the new academic year from January 18 for all schools and junior colleges. The government has released the schedule for Class VI, Class X and junior intermediate students for 2021-22 academic year. Other students have already been promoted to the next classes during the lock-down.
According to the new schedule, all Class VI students would have 106 working days from January 18. They would have classes on alternative days from morning to evening. Similarly, the Class X students would have 103 working days from morning 8.45 to evening 4.30. The students would have classes on Sundays too barring festivals and national holidays. There would be no summer holidays for these students too to compensate the academic loss that they had due to lock-down in 2020-21 academic year.
For the junior intermediate students, the government had fixed 106 working days. This would include all Sundays and second Saturdays. The government wants to complete the syllabus for the first year intermediate students in the next 106 days starting January 18. However, the classes for the senior inter students would begin as per schedule on June 3.
The state government after series of consultations with the academicians and representatives of the teaching community had finalised the schedule to help the students protect their academic year. The new schedule, according to the state government officials, would help the students to cover the syllabus that they could not cover due to lock-down in 2020-21 academic year. The 2020-21 academic year was closed in the third week of March 2020 and is now resumed on January 18, 2021.
