Naidu misquoted Sivaramakrishnan
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was caught misquoting retired IAS officer Sivaramakrishnan Committee report on the capital advice for the state after bifurcation. The committee had wide consultations in the three regions of the State – Uttarandhra, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema – before summing up its report and giving it to the government.
The committee had favoured two locations – Nuzvid-Musunuru are in Krishna district and Donakonda area in Prakasam district – for the capital. The region was abundant availability of the government lands in these two places. Mostly the committee favoured Nuzvid area because of its access to the big adjoining city – Vijayawada – which has the rail, road and air connectivity.
But, the committee did not support even the suggestions to locate the capital around Vijayawada or the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA) zone, which was later converted into the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) area. The committee members, who included experts in the fields of urbanisation, environments and other fields, rejected any plan to have the capital in the VGTM UDA region as they were not against converting this fertile agriculture lands into a concrete jungle. In fact, the committee was asked to suggest the capital keeping in mind minimum damage to agriculture and human life and minimum expenditure to the government.
Unfortunately, Chandrababu Naidu, for his political reasons, misquoted Sivaramakrishnan to divert the attention of the people from his failures to fulfil his promises to the farmers of the capita villages. He had promised free education to every child in the capital villages, free health to every family and completely developed plots for the farmers. Nothing had happened on these lines and Chandrababu Naidu had thus betrayed them in five years and shedding crocodile tears now. He is worried what if the farmers realise his failures and start blaming him for this fate. This worry had made him to go to the extent of misquoting Sivaramakrishnan committee report.
