As of now the state has a capacity to excavate 1.25 lakhs of tones of sand per day but the government has decided to increase the capacity to 3 lakh tones per day. The total sand to be procured for the coming rainy season of three months would be around 1.7 crores of tones. All the sand would be made available at sand depots in all over the state and it would be supplied to the consumers without any lapses. If plenty of sand is available in villages, the public would involve in MGNREGA works and road works, even construction works also would be restarted and the working community would get jobs along with income. The decision taken by the government to control the damage occurred because of sand issue is expected to yield good results.
