Lockdown to be continued , PM Modi says with floor leaders
The Prime minister Naredra Modi has cleared all the doubts among the public regarding the lock down and stated that we can't lift the lock down all if sudden and it has to be continued for some more days.
Modi spoke to the all opposition floor leaders in the parliament over video conference and stated that lockdown will be continued for some more time
Modi's comments came during an interaction with these leaders to discuss the situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic and the government's efforts to contain the fast-spreading virus in the country. A leader, who participated in the meeting but did not wish to be named, said the Prime Minister told them that he will also consult chief ministers. Leaders like Those participated in the meet included Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, and Nationalist Congress Party head Sharad Pawar , Mithun Reddy and Vijay sai reddy of YSRCP have participated in the video conference.
Sources said, these leaders were briefed by secretaries of various ministries health, home and rural development on the actions taken by the government to tackle COVID-19 and mitigate the hardships arising out of the lockdown.
Several leaders raised the issue of shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health workers in the country.The meet comes amidst indications that the Central government may extend the lockdown across the country beyond April 14 after several states have favoured the extension to contain the fast-spreading virus, as the positive cases in the country show no signs of any let up. As per the sources , Modi stated that he would speak to the chief ministers of various states once again and take their suggestions to fight with Covid-19.
