Last rites of Vangapandu with state honor
The final journey of Vangapandu prasada Rao, a popular folk, revolutionary singer, balladeer are organized with state honor on Tuesday in Parvathipuram of Vizianagaram. Vangapandu, renown singer has passed away in Parvathipuram town of Vizianagaram on early hours of Tuesday with heart stroke at the age of 77 years.
He worked actively with Jananatya Mandali and extensively travelled the villages, mostly in tribal areas and enlighten them about their rights. He explained how they have been exploited and looted by the corporate sector. He born in Pedabondapalli village of Parvathipuram mandal in 1943 and he spent all of his life for the workers, labor, tribal community by inspiring them. He wrote around 300 songs in various movies and they were dubbed into some other languages too. He has close association with singers like Gaddar, Goreti Venkanna, Vandemataram Srinivas and others. ‘Em pillado veldam vastavaa…’ song of Artharatri Swatantryam has labeled him as revolutionary writer.
He has organized thousands of programs in villages, streets and on roads. He worked as guest faculty with Andhra university, department of theater arts. After receiving the news , the chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has instructed the district administration to organize his final journey with state honor. Immediately collector summoned concerned officials to rush to the home of Vangapandu and organize his final rites in a grand way.
Chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, other cultural colleagues have expressed their grief over his demise. Dushyanth son of Prasada Rao, has completed his ritual while singing his songs em pillado veldam vastava and others. Locals have reached the grave yard and witnessed him and re collecting their association with him.
