GITAM found guilty in land grabbing
Official inquiry confirms the same

The official inquiry undertaken by the government of Andhrapradesh has got a confirmed evidences of that Gandhi Institute of Technology and management (GITAM) Visakhapatnam has encroached the government land and even purchased from the government at lesser price against the norms. As per the reports appearing on various news papers and electronic media, the Revenue Divisional Officer(RDO) of Visakhapatnam conducted an inquiry and confirmed that GITAM university is in possession of 40.51 acres of land at Rushikonda and Endada villages, which are adjacent to VIzag city. The has constructed compound wall and buildings in the lands. Based on the RDO report, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID is also probing into the matter. Its learnt that the government is putting its efforts to
take back these lands from the university, which was owned by former TDP MP late M V V S Murthy. Its a naked truth that Murthy got the favours during the Chandrababu Naidu regime. The college management has applied the government to sanction 71 acres of land to establish educational institute at land in Rushikonda and Endadamandals for setting up of educational institutions. Since it was meant for assignment to the landless poor but was in some legal dispute, the then government allotted the land to GITAM subject to certain conditions that it should purchase the lands as per the rate prescribed by the government after the settlement in the court or the government might take back the land. But the college management has constructed the buildings in the lands by 1996. Later the government of Andhrapradesh then headed by Chandrababu Naidu took back 22 acres of land and allotted 35 acres more to the college at the price of Rs.18,000 per acre. Later the media reports that the GITAM has possessed 7.6 acres of assigned land which was allotted to housing department. Even the revenue authorities also have confirmed that GITAM has possessed 40 acres of land in Rushikonda which is actually allotted for housing scheme under Rajiv Swagruha. As per the information, the government has strongly decided to take back the lands from the GITAM college and teach them a lesson. Actually after demise of MVVS Murthy, the college is being run by Sribharat, the grand son of Murthy. Sribharat is son in law of Balakrishna and he contested from Visakhapatnam in 2019 elections as MP candidate on behalf of Telugu Desam.
