Encroachments at GITAM demolished
The government of Andhrapradesh has undertaken the demolishions at GITAM college at Visakhapatnam. As per the probe made by the revenue officials, the government found that the GITAM college has encroached around 40 acres of land and constructed some buildings there. On early hours of Saturday the revenue officials along with the support of police have surrounded the college and demolished the main gate arch and some other constructions there. The officials have blocked the roads from Visakhapatnam route and from Endada too. The college was established at Vizag in 1980s and running management , engineering and medical science courses there. The founder of the college MVVS Murthy was the MP of Visakhapatnam on behalf of Telugu desam and even he benefitted ore during Chandrababu regime.
As per the probe undertaken by Revenue divisions officer (RDO), Visakhapatnam that GITAM university is in possession of 40.51 acres of land at Rushikonda and Endada villages, which are adjacent to VIzag city. The has constructed compound wall and buildings in the lands. Based on the RDO report, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID is also probing into the matter. Its learnt that the government is putting its efforts to take back these lands from the university
GITAM has possessed 7.6 acres of assigned land which was allotted to housing department.
But the college at Rushikonda area in Vizag appealed the government to regularize those lands at cost fixed by the government and the letter is pending at revenue department. Meanwhile the college has constructed some building there. Now after getting concrete information, the ysrcp government has started action to get back the 40.5 acres of land from the management of the college. After demise of MVVS Murthy, Sri bharat, grand son is looking after the college. It's aware of everybody that Sribharat, is son in law of Balakrishna and. contested from Vizag Loksabha constituency on behalf of TDP in 2019 and was defeated.
