EC decided to halt elections
The deadly Corona virus is gradually influencing every sector in India. Various academic examinations, local body elections were postponed due to the infection .But now the central election commission has decided to not to conduct the election for Rajya sabha to be held on 26 March. The Rajya Sabha elections were scheduled to be held on March 26. Delhi has been put on complete lockdown till March 31.
Madhya Pradesh leader Jyotiraditya Scindia who recently shifted camps from Congress to BJP was given a Rajya Sabha nomination by the saffron party.
Election to fill up 55 seats in the Upper House of Parliament was to be held on March 26, but 37 candidates have already been elected without a contest.
The decision on holding the Rajya Sabha election for the remaining 18 seats will be taken based on the prevailing situation. P.Subhash Chandra bose, M.Venkataramana, Parimal Matwani and Ayodhya Ramireddy are nominated by YSRCP from Andhrapradesh to Rajya sabha.
