CAG to audit TTD accounts hereafter!
YSC Congress party, which blamed the ruling Telugu Desam then that the government has misused and diverted donations for party purpose. Even many leaders of YSRCP alleged that crores of rupees were spent to organize Dharmaporata Deeksha at Delhi and the government didn’t maintain the accounts properly and even the audit also was not undertaken with statutory body. Now the positions are changed and the YSRCP became ruling party and Telugu Desam became opposition. Now the Tirumala TirupatiDevasthanams (TTD) trust board has appealed the Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government to entrust the auditing of TTD accounts to the Comptroller and Auditor General.
The decision was taken following a petition filed by BJP MP SubrahmanyamSwamy and others in the state high court asking for the auditing of TTD accounts by the CAG. The petitioners alleged that there were huge irregularities in the TTD funds during the Telugu Desam Party regime(2014-2019). The MP also write a letter to TTD in this regard and YV Subbareddy, the chairperson of the trust board also welcomed the letter and stated that it would conduct the audit with CAG for more credibility.
As of now the TTD had been getting its accounts audited by the state audit department but now, it has asked the government to entrust the auditing to the CAG including those accounts audited during 2014-20. Though the TTD had not raised any objections on the state audit of the accounts till now, the board has decided to involve the CAG in the auditing with retrospective account from 2014 to remove any sort of apprehensions among the devotees. It is yet to be known what decision the government would take on this recommendation from the TTD. Even the Ramana Deekashithulu, former chief priest , who was terminated from the services also made some comments on the previous government and he alleged that some excavations were undertaken at kitchen to unearth some hidden treasures. Many allegations were made that huge quantity of ornaments donated to lord Venkateswara by the devotees were looted by political leaders. If the audit is undertaken by the CAG, the facts are expected to come out.
