BJP rebuffs DGP’s charge, threatens to sue
The BJP leadership in Andhra Pradesh had taken serious note of the statement of DGP, the other day, which accused both BJP and TDP activists of involvement in temple and idol desecrations.
The DGP had announced the arrest of some of the TDP and BJP activists in spreading false news about the temple desecrations in the state. He also accused them of involvement in some desecration cases.
The two parties have taken strong exception to the DGP’s statement. However, the BJP had written to the DGP asking him to withdraw the statement or clarify whether the BJP activists were involved in desecrations.
BJP state president Somu Veerraju threatened to sue the DGP if he failed to correct himself by giving a clear statement. He denied the role of BJP in the series of temple desecrations. He blamed the DGP and the state government for its failure to protect the temples and idols.
The BJP AP chief said that no activist of the party was involved in the temple or idol desecration in the state. He further said that a post in the social media about temple desecration is different from committing the crime. Hence he sought a clarification from the DGP.
Well, it is now to be seen whether the DGP would respond to the letter or ignore it.
