AP to handover Tidco House to beneficiaries
The state government had decided to hand over the Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (Tidco) houses to the beneficiaries. The government would hand over nearly 80,000 houses to the beneficiaries by December 2021.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy took the decision at a review meeting on housing with the officials on Monday.
The previous TDP government had started construction of 5 lakh houses by the Tidco with the Central government’s support. The beneficiaries in the urban areas would get these houses on payment through bank loans.
The houses were constructed in 300 sft, 365 sft and 430 sft with the beneficiary paying the initial amount that ranged from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The government would provide bank tie-up for the beneficiaries to pay the balance amount.
Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier stopped the work and had promised to give the 300 sft houses at free of cost, while the remaining two categories would be on payment. The works on these houses was resumed after one year in office by this government.
The government had also decided to hand over all the five lakh Tidco houses in three phases, with second phase in June 2022 and third and final phase in December 2022.
