AP is open for Defence Cluster in Donakonda
Andhra Pradesh government has put up a proposal to establish a defence cluster at Donakonda and accords high priority to the interests with the France government. Minister for Industries, Commerce and IT, Mekapati Gowtham Reddy, along with a delegation from the State took part at DEFEXPO India-2020 at Lucknow on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Gowtham Reddy stated that AP Government is always open to partnerships with the France government. “AP Industries Department has already sent a proposal to the Union Government for the establishment of a Defence Cluster in Donakonda. We have vast lands in Donakonda for the establishment of the cluster and also the nearby ports of Krishnapatnam and Chennai would benefit in import, export operations. Under the Make in India initiative, Donakona is an ideal place for developing defence mechanism, which also suits aerospace industries.” said the Minister.
The Minister further said that Students in AP are being trained in skill initiatives like shipbuilding, marine systems, etc under Dassault Systems and also secured placements in topnotch companies. “We are investing heavily in the development of enabling infrastructure, which already includes six operational seaports, seven airports, over 123,000 kilometres of road network and 2,600 kilometres of rail network. Andhra Pradesh is currently on the cusp of a major economic and social transformation. By 2030, Andhra Pradesh's working-age population will account for over 60% and urbanisation is expected to increase from 35% to over 50% by 2035. The state aspires to continue to be the best in ease of doing business. We also plan to reduce the cost of doing business by simplifying regulations and processes,” he added.
