"Panchanga Sravanam" Gathering Also Cancelled
Covid-19 is the only topic everybody is discussing in India now. In fact, it has become widely discussed topic across the globe. Initially, there were some assumptions that India will not be affected by the epidemic because of the high temperatures etc. Now, everybody has got clarity including the politicians who downplayed it in the beginning.
PM Narendra Modi gave a call for self-isolation and suggested that everybody should observe Janata Curfew on this Sunday. With all these developments surrounding Covid-19 prevention measures, the question of Ugadi festival celebrations may not arise. Though people celebrate the festival, the festivities will be confined to their homes as the temples are now allowing the devotees.
Ugadi is one of the favourite festivals of Telugus. This year it is Sarwari nama samvatsara Ugadi. Usually, the Telangana government conducts Ugadi celebrations officially. The CM, other ministers will participate in the event. Panchanga Sravanam programme will be conducted in a traditional manner. In a recent press meet, KCR has clarified that there will be no Ugadi celebrations this year. But he said that Panchanga Shravanam programme will be conducted and it will be telecasted live for the people. AP government may also follow Telangana route when it comes to Ugadi celebrations and Panchanga Sravanam.
