Lakhs of movie buffs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are eagerly awaiting the release of Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 and Balakrishna’s Gautamiputra Satakarni. Both the film are going to occupy majority of the screens later this week have been in the news for all the right reasons and the buzz surrounding them has reached a crescendo. Moreover, the fact that Khaidi No 150 is Chiranjeevi’s 150th film and Gautamiputra Satakarni being Balakrishna’s 100th film, the duel between the two films has added more fuel to the fire at the box-office.
Khaidi No 150, which is releasing on January 11, has an early-mover advantage and in several cities and towns, the film will be screened in almost all the theatres on day one. In Hyderabad alone, the film is going to be have 317 shows in multiplexes alone, along with hundreds of other shows in single screen theatres. Going by the demand for the tickets so far, it wouldn’t be surprising if Khaidi No 150 rewrites several tickets on the first day of its release.
And then, there’s Gautamiputra Satakarni. Directed by Krish, the film has been given tax exemption by both the state governments and it’ll also see a massive release on January 12. The film narrates the story of Gautamiputra Satakarni, who lived in 1st century AD and was one of the greatest emperors of Satavahana dynasty, and it has become a flag-bearer of Telugu pride and culture. The entire team of the film has been underlining the fact that the film will throw light on our rich cultural heritage and thus, it becomes a film of great historical and cultural importance. The trailer and the music has already created a big buzz about the film and it promises to be a visual feast.
Although both Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna have both wished success for each other’s films, the debate among the movie buffs persists to see who’s going to have the last laugh at the box-office. This will only get more interesting later this week.
